Pink Floyd- Goodbye Blue Sky
This song is from Pink Floyd's epic album, The Wall. This album also has video representation in the form of a movie, unsurprisingly titled The Wall. Both album and movie are spectacular, telling the story of a rock star who has had too many crowds, too many drugs, and has built up a mental wall between him and his audience. This song is one that seems to be irrelevant to the story, but has many deep meanings that are visualized through an animated sequence. The song starts with the voice of a small girl saying, "Look mummy, there's an airplane up in the sky." Then light acoiustic guitar strumming starts, to soon be overwhelmed by a big sinister sound, which I have no ideaa how it is made. Regardless, it makes me think of something beautiful and relaxing being destroyed and replaced. The visual representation of this is a dove flying while the guitar is still dominant, and then as the new noise starts, the dove explodes into an evil looking raven that transforms into a war airplane. The rest of the song has a general mood change into a warlike despairing atmosphere, with different representation of death, ranging from airplane transformation into graves, to skeleton soldiers transforming into white crosses. I have yet to fully inderstand this song, but I love it, and it is very moving along with the visual representation.
